1994 grand caravan over heated

My 1994 dodge caravan over heated , we were in very backed up traffic when we would get going it cooled off my husband said it needed water that the coolent was very low but that has never happened before .Help!!!!!

Since the level was low that could cause it to overheat. But check for leaks while the engine is idling and up to temperature. Also make sure the fan(s) are kicking on when it is up to temperature. If the fans are working, the fluid level is full, and it is still overheating I'd change the thermostat and then possibly think the radiator is clogged.

Hello Me again, the fans were not running my husband replaced the fuse and it keeps blowing ??????
