1994 Voyager, good alternator, no chargingtired starling 04-15-2005, 07:36 PM My 94 Voyager has a good alternator (tested at auto parts store) but the system is not being charged. Must I hunt for a short or is there an easier alternative? yogi_123rd 04-16-2005, 01:59 AM I got an education on this one. Even telling them what was wrong (fusable link), they replaced a perfectly good alternator. When their alternator didn't work, they fixed the real problem and made it work. I got stuck with the cost of an extra alternator. You problem is most likely the "fusable link" has blown. Charging systems have a "fusable link" in them instead of a fuse. It is a wire from the alternator to the battery that protects the battery should a bad alternator spike in voltage. It is a wire made of different metal or gauge and designed to melt just as a fuse would. I believe (uncertain exactly where it is) the fusable link may be the smaller wire attached to the positive connection of the battery. Look for it to be melted. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
