ac/heat controls

About 2 weeks ago the recirculating button on my ac/heat controls quit working. The light doesn't even go on when it is pushed. At the same time, the AC would only blow on the floor and none of the controls would adjust it. Next time I started the Yukon the vent controls worked again, but the recirculating button was still not working.

Yesterday the AC button did the same thing - no light, and no control over the vent position. Last night after reading another thread here, I pulled the mode actuator from under the dash (drivers side of transmission hump). I opened it up and gave it a lube job. It was working fine while in my hand. After reinstalling it, I can hear it moving the vent around, but the AC is still not working. Now, the AC light is dimmly visible, but as soon as you turn the fan on, the light goes out all together.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks!

It's probably a bad a/c controller which means you basically have to replace the switch in the dash. I will warn you, then are not cheap. For a 96 rockauto.com shows it $95 without defog and $120 with defog.

Thanks - I've just ordered one. $120.00 just as you said... Hopefully that resolves the problem!
