99 Explorer horn problems.tmac2085 04-14-2005, 01:24 PM HI this is my first thread. I have a 99 explorer and the horn sounds awful. My dad checked it out yesterday and he said it seems to be inside the inner fender on the drivers side. When i beep the horn it sounds like a flock of geese (thanks for my lovely friend for saying that). Has anyone replaced a horn for a 99 explorer or a model close to it? Thanks for all your help! Try cleaning it up first before you spend the money. punmaster7 04-18-2005, 11:38 AM I had one of those in my rebuild. The horn needs a good ground on the mounting bolt under the battery box. Be sure it it tight. Check the wire connector to verify a good connection. My horns were not working at all due to a bad connector. I fixed the problem by pulling the inner tab to make a tighter connection. Finally, the horns may have a screw adjustment that you can optimize the sound. You will find it easiest to remove the left front inner fender to access them and, if I can recall, you will also need to remove the horns from the vehicle. Ford found a really good place :cya: to put them! I don't remember if you need to remove the battery box to get to the bolt. I was rebuilding it when I fixed that problem and the BB wasn't installed yet. Good luck. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
