Speed Limitergamelovers11218 04-13-2005, 11:04 PM 2 months ago I bought 1998 PA Ultra, alas my 1993 Ultra was totalled. So on the open highway I wanted to try it out: floored it and let my foot stay threre for awhile, when the car reached 105mph it just stoped going abruptly. After the speed went down to a 100 it again started pushing. Why is the speed limiter is so low (105 mph), even on my 1993 PAU the limiter was 112.5 mph? How do you take off this limiter? The definetly can go more than 105. Any suggestions gentelmen? wrightz28 04-14-2005, 08:51 AM Suggestions? Have one for ya, how about you slow down? We're talking about a 6 cyl 4 door sedan here, and they were'nt intended to see any use on the autobahn either. The limiter is set toi the maximum level that the vehicle itself can tolorate (ie. steering and handling system, brakes). However, if you insist on feeling the need to put your life and others at risk and alter the top speed, your only way is through 'tuning' the engine mgmt. system. rotaran 04-14-2005, 03:46 PM My 92 PA (non-Supercharged) is limited to 124mph. But i donīt know how to take off the limiter. Mike deadring 04-16-2005, 10:12 AM i dont think than that is the issue.. it's tough enought to take it.. my old corolla did 120 and i never had any troubles.. this car can clearly take the extra 30 MPH :) and i may have found the way to remove it.. a chip :) oh and btw, the grand prix can go a lot faster and has the same conponents.. engine tranny, etc. deadring mojodojo2k 06-02-2005, 11:43 PM How do you guys know on your '92 and '93 Park Av's on how high they can go? Last time i checked those Park Avenue models didn't have digital dashes and their speedometers only went to 100. Do you guys have friends with a dyno machine or something? Or is this just guessing. Kind of curious because 124mph is extremely high for an early GM model car like that to be going that fast. I used to have a '95 Chevy Caprice (non-police model) with the 350 in it and it cut out at 110mph (digital dash)...and i thought for sure a car of that stature could go alot faster. Right now i have a '94 PA Ultra and i'm guessing it tops out at 110mph...kind of hard to tell when the speedometer only goes to 100. :) Seems like all the cars in the early and mid 90's were "restricted"...especially in horsepower and topping speeds. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
