I took my wifes van to auto zone to have them check the engine light. It came up as an emmission leak and (large). The guy told me it was most likley a vaccume hose so I took it home put it on ramps and searched for anything found nothing! However on the top of the moter where three lines (vac) feed into a connector seem to be a tad loose but not enough to cause a problem. I disconnected the bat. and the light went away for a few days then came back on. I disconnected the bat. again and the light stayed off for 2-3 weeks now its back on
by the way car drives fine and gas miles are much better than my tahoe
Dose any one have any ideas??

large evap leak could be caused by a loose gas cap
or a broken or split emission hose at cannister or going to canister or there is a check valve with 2 large hoses and one small vacum hose on top by the canister wich could be faulty if it doesn't hold vacum there is many many possibilyties to this code and generaly we have to install a smoke machine in the evaporative system to help detect a leak but check all the emission hoses under van for splits right at the clamp areas and also i do find alot of hoses split at the air cleaner you must remove complete air cleaner top and bottom ant to the rear of the air cleaner body there is a 5/16 rubber hose plugged into a metal line and this hose splits also as well as the hoses under van and this check vavle also goes for a dive and the reason it takes a few days to turn lamp on depends on temperature outside and the amount of fuel in van must meet a bunch of requirements before it will run the test and never run test when ambient temp is below o degrees Celcius
