305 automatic4 spd, 50K miles. does it with and before new tires. Vibrates enough to jingle change on dash at 55 or so . Nothing earlier and goes away over 60. Owner had truck since new and it only came on the last 6 - 9 months or so. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
One thing that has given me fits over the years with the vibration at 55 mph was the balance job.
The tire shop has a mounting system that uses a cone in the center hole.
Some wheels are not accurate enough for this to work well.
I learned to have them use an adapter that fits in the lug holes which is where the wheel mounts to the truck.
They will sometimes balk because it is a bit more work, and they might have the adapter hidden in the back.
I even had the Big O shop tell me it was broken, twice in two years.
Costco used it after I returned the same day and explained it to the manager. He did it and admitted he learned something.

Those damned cheap non greasable u joints on the drive shaft are the culpret. Rear one was self destructing.

check for bent idler arm or other bent steering component. may not be bent, but could be worn. i had the same problem on a 1998 sierra
