Fuel gauge isnt working, started a few weeks back, it would flip all around and finally settle in. It will show full when I fill up but never seems to go far past a half. How hard is the sending unit/pump to replace?

Go with AC delco sending unit and pumps, they are tried and true.

Replacement depends on how much you know about dropping tanks and such.

Never dropped a gas tank but im sure its not rocket science. Ive changed a cam shalf I think I can do that. Delco units must cost a fortune however. I just want something to last 5 years or so. After that im buying a new car.

By genuine AC Delco if you want it to last.

You can get them cheaply off of ebay brand new.

Drive Tank nearly empty. Park, disconnect battery.
Chock wheels, etc.
Disconnect 3 lines (Pinch to release) and 2 electrical connectors from tank.
spray some liquid wrench on long tank mounting bolt.
Support tank with floor jack. Remove mounting bolts.
Remove locking ring to replace assembly. Drive it off with NON sparking tool.(brass).
Reverse back in .Hour or so project if all goes well.
