Neon 1999 Oil Leakagepablo1999 04-11-2005, 07:04 AM I have a neon 1999 which is going thru an oil leakage. After further investigation it seems that the problem has to do with the Head Gasket Thats Leaking The Oil. Also it seems that I need to change the Valve Cover Gasket. I found in the internet a product called Steel Seal™ which is made of several chemicals that, when combined under the right circumstances, creates a permanent seal as strong as steel. For more information go to www.steelseal.com I wonder if any one have used this product and if it's something I can use on my car and will it give good results? Thank you in advanced, Pablo Fractured1 04-11-2005, 07:37 PM seems like there product is for leaks in the coolant system and will not help you in the oil leak department...I would recommend a good engine cleaning and then check where your leak is...could be a very simple fix or $$$$...napa sells a product to add to the oil and after a few miles you can use a black light to detect the actual leak area..good luck sweet_brandi_wines 04-14-2005, 01:09 AM Pablo This is a very bad idea! by sealing this closed with anything other than a gasket or silicone gasket you could not only cause damage to your car but in the future your neon may need new springs or valves which are in the head itself and if it was sealed with something that couldnt be undone then your in trouble. Oil leaks also come from a blown camshaft seal or by the oil pan itself mainly common in neons. new gaskets and or seals are often needed throught out the life of your vehicle just remember to keep up on oil changes and fluid checks this is the food for your car. ~BRANDI~ wafrederick 04-14-2005, 09:21 AM Replace the headgasket, that stuff is not worth putting in.The headgasket is a common problem and most auto parts stores stock them. Also check around the camshaft position sensor. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
