About two weeks ago, I replaced the front brakes and rotors on my 2002 dodge grand caravan sport. I purchased the parts from Autozone, and everything seemed fine. However, there is a burning smell coming from the front wheel wells. I took both front tires off, and verified that the rotors spun freely 360 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise. There does not appear to be any hang ups. There are no noises, and the van steers straight when the brakes are applied. No pulling.

Is this normal as the brakes are new. The car has not been driven a great distance since the new brakes were installed.

It can be normal part of pad wear in but watch for excessive brake dust. If you see a lot of dust or the brake seems excessively hot then you may have a sticking caliper piston causing the brakes to stay in contact with the rotor. If that is the case you will need to rebuild or replace the caliper. PS This can happen as the pads heat up and release as they cool down so you may need to check the pads and rotors when the brakes are hot.

A lot times this is normal wearin , you will smell a burning type smell that will usually go away after 2-3 weeks . Give it a little time before worrying about too much .

We have an 02 GC Sport w/ 65k mi on it. We Newer brakes installed w/in about 2 months. excessive brake dust & heated brake only one side...the right front. Also ABS light just started acting up 2 days ago...it goes on intermittantly...not while braking, while driving & at some point tends to go away.

Any ideas gang?? Could i replace the calipers & solve all my issues? Fluide level OK, no leaks discovered.
