front end shake...shimmy

Has anyone figured out the front-end shimmy shake on tahoes?
I have a 99 4X4 that I purchased new in 1998. It is doing the shimmy intermittantly and does not seem to matter if I am braking or not.
It will do it mostly while braking but does it when not stopping as well.
It just hit 100,000 miles and I just put new tires on it...it was shaking before I put the new tires on it.

Sounds like your pitman arm and idler arm are shot. I had the same problem with mine, I changed them both along with all new tie rod ends even though the tie rods were not bad I wanted every thing to be new. My Tahoe is a 98 w/135,000 miles on it.
Hope this fixes your problem!

I think you are probably right on the pitman arm and or Idler arm.
How much more difficult is it on a 4X4?
