Squeaky Steering in 2000 SEbwlphenom 04-09-2005, 07:45 PM My Taurus, when I turn mostly left, the steering wheel sounds like it is rubbing (mostly occurs when the wheel get near upside down 180 degrees). Sounds like a low pitched-squeak. I don't think its power steering, it sounds like its in the column. Any suggestions, or sound familiar to anyone? way2old 04-11-2005, 01:00 PM Check to see if the steering wheel is rubbing the plastic trim that covers steering column first. This will give you a squeak. These will distort a little from time. smily157 05-02-2005, 09:21 AM I don't know if it is the same thing, but my steering makes a groaning sound when i turn hard left or right. Apparently it is just normal operation for Taurus's. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2736401#post2736401 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
