you know when you have your key in the ignition and your door is open and it makes the ding,ding, noise----well when i shut my door and put my foot on the BREAK it makes the noise--but the funny thing is about it--it doesnt do it when the truck is running-----any information--oh yeah its 89 s-10

the thing chevy did to keep you from disableing your idiot sound is hooked it up to the break, you could have a lose wire, but seince you dont have the sound when running i doubt it, just thought i would throw in that the two are on the same fuse/curcit

it will keep chiming until i take my foot of the brake but it doesnt do it when it runs

if i am not mistaken, it is supposed to chime when there are lights on(parking/head lights). if it is coming on when you press the brake, then either there is a wire crossed, or a bulb if fried in a way that makes it seem the parking lights in the rear are on.


question is, did this just start, or has it been like this?

it had just stated yesterday i was pushing the brakes and it started doing it

start with the easiest things first. pul off the tail light covers and look at the wires and bulbs, then work your way forward. is a tedious process, but only way to find if there is a problem, or if it a let it go type of thing
