Hi,

I did a search through the Winstar forum for paint delamination and came up empty handed.....

Here is my question. I recently purchased a 2001 Windstar and noticed the paint peeling in the rails on the roof.... I have heard rumors of a noted issue from Ford regarding this.

Has Ford ever done anything about this?

When I spoke to the service manager he denied there was ever a problem. I have since found a service bulletin explaining to them how to go about the repair procedure.....

Is there a way to make them fix this problem, or have they ever offered some form of resolution or restitution on the matter?

Thank you in advance for any help you may be :)

I have found by calling Ford head quarters does no good they simpley reply that any problems are handled on a local level. So basicly if the dealer in your area want do anything for you than its done. You may want to try other dealers in the area and see what there input on it is.Other than that you may have to pay out of pocket to have it fixed.I am not sure but some models cover up to 5 years paint and corrosion not sure if ford did this but it was at one time universal with all car makers.Good luck,Gary

I just looked up the warranty info for your model ... I think you may be out of luck from a warranty standpoint ... but the dealer has some descretion about what he does in the interest of customer satisfaction.

The following site can be cantankerous ... often requires many "refreshes"...

My '01 did the same thing. The dealer repaired the spot once under warranty and once not under warranty (same area). This was about 16 months ago and so far nothing else has peeled off. Dealers will always deny any problems, well known or not.

I had bubbled, peeling paint & some rust under the slider doors and rear hatch when I was under 36 months, but JUST over 36000 miles (37K). My local dealer told me there was no way ford would warranty it since I was over mileage. They wouldn't budge. I am a failrly regular customer of theirs, and when I offered to pay a portion of it, they changed their tune & agreed to pay half. $250 out of my pocket & it was fixed with a 2yr/24K mile guarantee). On an issue like this, you really have to attack it from the dealer level.
G/luck
