Check engine light?xodus917 04-02-2002, 11:41 AM I really hate when a light pops up. and mine just did. I checked to tighten the gas cap, it could've been just that, but what else could it be?since it just popped up a few minutes ago i'll wait a while before i do anything. hopefully it will still be covered under warrenty if its somthin else 90CRXZCSi 04-02-2002, 11:52 AM Check the ECU under the passenger side carpet to see how many times it's flashing. Then, you can tell me the code and i'll tell you the problem.;) 96LSIntegraRocket 04-02-2002, 02:30 PM what do u mean ? like turn the car on and look under there and it will flash for so many times ? and pause between the number of flashes? my check engine light is on too but i think its because i took the air box cover was removed,.... id like to make sure,.......... thanks 00GSR 04-02-2002, 02:58 PM Picture this. It's the weekend, you're out enjoying the open road, and WHAM, your "Check Engine" light rears it's ugly head. Ever wondered what was wrong with the engine? Not have enough money to take it to your mechanic and let him decipher the enigma? Well here's how you can learn what you're Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is trying to tell you. Like the code machines of old, the ECU loves to talk in code. The only problem is deciphering it. Fortunately, you have this article to help you interpret it. The '86-'91 Honda and '86-'93 Acura were equipped with a window on the ECU. On the other side of this window is an LED. This little LED would flash the code when the key was in the ON position. But unfortunately, the '92-'00 Honda and '94-'00 ECU was upgraded without an access window or LED. Replacing the LED though is a flashing check engine light. All that you need now is to pull the trouble codes, and you can do it with a jumper wire. Locate the factory diagnostic plug next to the ECU for the Integra and Civic. There is a two-pin connector that contains a brown and black wire. http://www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/images/connector1.jpg Jump these two wires together and turn your key to the ON position. http://www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/images/connector2.jpg Here is where it gets tricky. Deciphering the code requires reading the light sequences. When the car is in the ON position, the check engine light emits two different flashes; a long extended flash means 10, and a rapid flash means 1. So, one long flash, another long flash, followed by 3 quick flash stands for...................23! Equipped with that information, here are the codes for the '92-'00 Honda and '94-'00 Acura. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 ECU 1 Oxygen Content 3 Map Sensor 4 Crank Angle Sensor 5 Map Sensor 6 Coolent Temperature 7 Throttle Angle 8 TDC Position 9 No 1 Cylinder Position 10 Intake Air Temperature 12 Exhaust Gas Recirculation System 13 Atmosphere Pressure 14 Electronic Air Control 15 Ignition Output Signal 16 Fuel Injector 17 Vehicle Speed Sensor 20 Electronic Load Detector 21 VTEC Solenoid Valve (1.8L GSR) 22 VTEC Oil Pressure Switch (1.8L GSR) 23 Knock Sensor 30 TCM Signal A 31 TCM Signal B 41 O-2 Sensor Heater 43 Fuel Supply System 45 System Too Rich or Too Lean 48 Primary Heated O-2 Sensor 54 Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation Sensor 61 Primary O-2 Sensor Circuit 63 Secondary O-2 Sensor Circuit 67 Catalyst System 70 Automatic Transaxle 71-74 Random Misfire 80 Exhaust Gas Recirculation 86 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit 90 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected 91 Fuel Tank Pressure Circuit 92 Evaporative Emission Control System Insufficient There you go :smoker2: 90CRXZCSi 04-02-2002, 03:09 PM oh yea my bad. i was thinkin about my CRX. I havent had any problems with my integra yet and i just got it and didnt realize they were any different really. Thanks for clearing it up 00GSR. xodus917 04-02-2002, 09:28 PM its 9 long flashes so its 90 i think it was the gas cap, I'll see if it will go away soon 90CRXZCSi 04-02-2002, 10:53 PM Yea i think your right on the gas cap part. Just make sure everytime you tighten it that it gives quite a few clicks before your done tightening it. The light should go away. if your positive it's tight, reset the ECU and everytime you fill up make sure it's on tight and it shouldnt come back.;) xodus917 04-02-2002, 11:03 PM thanks for all your help crow610 07-09-2004, 03:54 PM I believe I got an error cold 9 (9 quick flashes) which indicates that something is wrong with No.1 Cylinder Position. Does anyone know what the No. 1 Cylinder Position is? putz65 06-08-2005, 12:07 AM I would like the codes for a 1992 integra imasleep 12-02-2005, 03:46 PM weeeee superbluecivicsi 12-02-2005, 05:44 PM this thread is 3 1/2 years old. knorwj 12-02-2005, 06:23 PM weeeee what the f&#% is wrong with you? you dredge up an incredibly old thread, then as if that weren't bad enough you did it just to post some BS like that?:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::no no::nono::nono: DaSnowMan5 12-09-2005, 12:20 AM Heck, I just bought the code reader from Kragen for $29.99. Wish I would have found this thread before I did that hahaha.. Found out when I read the book, WOW.. you dont need a tool to read it, just turn on the key and look through the window to see how many times it flashes, but at least now, for $30, I have a list of the trouble codes.. hahaha. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
