Hondata94DXSiR 04-07-2005, 08:51 AM I know I am asking alot of questions here, but I am getting things ready for racing when the summer hits here in DC. But Ive looked on the Hondata site since thats going to be the computer that im going to use. But Ive been reading their site and came up with a few questions. As obvious im going with the s200 series, but if I am forgetting something, someone PLEASE tell me before I do something dumb, and I havent bought anything yet, and don't intend to till I make sure I have everything ready. [Quote from site] "The s200 system consists is an interface box which connects to a modified stock ECU." What does it mean by a modified stock ECU? And what do I need to do to give it that modification its looking for? [Quote from site] "The base price for the s200 is $295 This allows the ECU to be tuned by a dealer or anyone with ROM Editor V3 and a programmer. You will need a base program (ROM) for your vehicle/engine/ECU which you can get from your dealer." This one might be stupid because its plain as day in front of me but im asking anyways. Do I need to get one of those, or when I take my car down to the dyno station once everything goes in, well, everything after my basics which are already on the car. Will the tuners down there have one of those to tune it or do I have to get one myself? Because theres no way in hell Im doing the tunning myself because knowing me...I can work on 25 million dollar aircraft because im trained in it...but on my 2k car, ill leave that to the professionals, still have much to learn here. Those are my only main 2 I have right now, anyone help a guy with alot of questions out? Thanks. fasthatchb18c1 04-08-2005, 09:03 PM look into Uberdata, if you know what your doing you can change everything on your ecu just like Hondata but you will do it yourself and not someother guy. Only do this if you know what you are doing and if you have any questions about it go to there web site. I have it and damn does it kick ass. Greenblurr93 04-08-2005, 09:06 PM ya, i agree, and the best part is the program is free.. civickiller 04-08-2005, 11:53 PM just gotta learn how to tune it, maybe he doesnt want to. just find a hondata tuner and ask him exactly what you need superbluecivicsi 04-09-2005, 04:12 AM hondatas site covers it well. buy the stuff and tune. hondatas site covers it well. 91civicDXdude 04-09-2005, 12:20 PM hondas ecu modificatin consists of a small circuit board that they solder onto CN3, plus they socket and chip the ECU, and some other small mods depending on the options you select. You cant modify the hardware yourself becuase their circuit board is proprietary. 94DXSiR 04-09-2005, 06:15 PM Well, that answers the first question, and just to let everyone know, I wont be doing the tunning for my civic, Ill leave it to professionals. As straight forward as things may be, I dont trust myself that much yet. I know jack about hondas because this is my first as I still have ALOT to learn, so for now, ill spend the extra as well so I can learn while they do it so then I can get a little better know how. Now for tunning wise, is it only hondata dealers or operaters know how to use it, or if I take my civic to a dyno station would they know or would I have to find someone that knew the system specifically to get it tuned? fasthatchb18c1 04-10-2005, 01:34 PM well yeah thats what i said "if you know what your doing" but you dont so stick with Hondata superbluecivicsi 04-12-2005, 09:36 PM i went with hondata because i was intimidated by the tuning. after using uberdata, i feel i got raped by hondata ;) one shmos experience. both are great management systems. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
