The other night I was at a local hang out talking cars and things with some friends of mine, when this guy that Larry brought with him spoke up and said that he drove a 91 Honda Civic SI with a Cold Air Kit, K20a engine swap. He proceded to tell us that he his Civic SI with cold air kit and the k20a engine was running low 11 seconds at Moroso and putting out 270 Wheel Horse Power. We said so what type of work to you have done, he said a 7 angle valve job, larger pistons bored 90 over and a custom cam, a custom automatic transmission, and a mo-tech exhaust. Really...We all pretty much ignored this new kid because it was obvious he was full of it. After a while we all left to head our seperate ways and this kid in the civic pulled up to the light, so I pulled up next him and said lets run to the next light so I can see what an 11 second civic can do. Kid revs the motor, sounded like a weed whacker with bad gas, the exhuast popped and pinged... Light turns green we take off and needless to say it was not much of a race. I beat him by atleast 4 or more car lengths. At the next light I said what happened he said I missed second gear, I said really in a automatic.

Why do some people insists on making up stories about their cars and times... And why do almost all these young kids in their imports think they are the shit and can beat any detroit muscle car with nothing more than a Cold Air Kit and a fart pipe... I am sorry I just don't get it...

But this is hardly an import/domestic thing. It is just as common no matter what car they have, so don't make it only about imports.

I know a guy who owns 02 protege (130hp stock plus exhaust and intake). He claimed that he was racing 2g turbo dsm and they took it up to 120mph and they were dead even :screwy: Me being the dsm owner, decided to challenge him to prove he was lying. He told me that he has some problems with intake at the moment so he couldn't race me lost week. I told him to race next week Friday and he said that he will try to make it. Would not be surprised if he has more problems next time. :lol:

i'm going to agree, almost every mustang owner i know (V6) thinks they can take me, some i give more credibility than others, but the only guy that sticks out in my mind is a 275lb white guy that has no mods except "what my brother did when he had the car" which doesn't include an exhaust, and he's got speakers in the back with a poor wiring job that shows out from under his NOS floor mats...did i mention it was an automatic??

wtf where did that come in? and yeah there are some mustang guys... mostly v6 guys that speak a bunch of crap, i agree with the guy the said rice is an attitude and not a car, i knew a guy that had a mid 90's v6 stang that was so riced out it was incredible. until he split it in half on a tree last week, yes literally in half. me personally... i try to be a mustang v6 guy whos realistic about what their car can do... and really the newer v6 with a stick isnt all that bad, considering its a pretty cheap car to. hell i got mine for 5k a year ago

I had some dude at work one day saying a CAI and dual flowmaster exhaust gained him about 40rwhp on a V6 Mustang.:lol: I just stood there and let him dwell in his own lying bath gloating about his car.

Yep, I think they're just ignorant and think I/E/H each give them 30 hp. I know a kid that has a '00 4 cylinder automatic Cougar. He says he's got 160 hp stock (idk if thats right), and he's putting in fart can, underdrive pulley, and an electric turbocharger and he says "That should give me about 220 hp"...I told him maybe 180 if he started with 160 and thats if the turbo works. I hear a lot of v6 Stang/f-body's ignorance too, idk just gotta teach people i guess.

i hate v6 stangs, i dont understand why ppl get them, like i would think the reason for buying a mustang is for the power, there not the greatest in rain, horrible in snow, interior is pretty plain, what is the point of having one if its not even fast.

They like the look of the mustang, or want to pose as if they're a V8. The guy that I raced with his V8 mustang auto convertible thinks he can take a 350z......no. I was behind him by 2-2.5 car lengths in a 10mph race to 100mph. He pretty much didn't pull at all around 75mph. He also has a decently built 72' skylark which he thinks is going to run high 12's.......Im guessing High 13's at best, we'll see come race day. I'd say misinformed people are the root of the problem.

That story about the vr6 is F-ing hilarious. I've got a story about an auto dodge neon. I thought he knew about cars so I started mentioning my engine swap i'm planning on having done, and I said 200whp was my goal. Of course he had to outdo me saying his SOHC was putting down 200 at the wheels already. As badly as I wanted to tear him apart by calling complete BS it's too much energy.

Even though a Civic with a K20 and some internal work could run 11s at a track, especially if they were putting down 270 fwhp. About automatics, I doubt you could get an automatic for a K20. You shoulud have asked for a dyno chart.

Anyways, he told me his brother had bought a Flowmaster muffler-not a full exhaust-just a muffler, and it picked his car up 20 hp.

He also said he bought his car (the V-6) a CAI, and it too picked his car up 20 hp (or whatever they advertise them to pick you up). I just sort of was like "yeah" and stuff, didnt really want to burst his bubble, lol.

He did claim to beat an LS1 Z28 however, and I just had to sort of "inform" him that it wasn't possible for him to do so, lol. I believe his story was an LS1 Z28 was behind him, and they both punched it, and the Z28 couldn't catch him. It was either that way, or he was behind the Z28 and they punched it and he kept up with them. He said after the run he held out 6 fingers signalling to the guy he was only a V-6, lol.

Either way, I told him it was probably a V-6 Camaro, or the Z28 was seriously gutted. It was a pretty funny story I suppose, but no where near as good as the 20 hp Flowmaster muffler and the 20 hp CAI.

I'm assuming it was an mk4? Everyone makes fun of the mk4 crowd, they're the ricers of the Euro scene (I suppose like people who mod Korean cars in the Asian scene, or Neons in the Domestic scene).

You know, I find that bullshitters, ignorant assholes, ricers, or whatever you want to call them come from all walks of life and own all sorts of cars. They are simply uninformed people. If you correct them politely and they still refuse to believe then so be it. I've met a lot of people and some friends that have fallen victim to such information. For example, a friend of mine had a Civic Si. He installed a catback exhaust, underdrive pulley, intake (not even a CIA at that), and he had a chip. He didn't lie about his mods, but he thought that he was getting an extra 80HP from all those mods. I laughed and told him that he might be getting an extra 10-15HP total for all those mods. These guys don't understand that when a manufacture claims that it adds so much horsepower they say "UP TO."

So I explained to him that this all adds up to airflow and his little engine doesn't have a lot of it so he might only get a couple of horses from an intake while someone with a Boss Mustang 429 might actually get that extra 20 horses because they have a lot more airflow. After I explained this to him he understood. He dynoed the car later on and felt pretty bad with the results, and then he really understood what I meant.

So, if you just try and educate them politely you might find that you'll help them not be such a tool. If they don't want to listen then so be it.

well most of them are bought by people who want to have one because of the looks, and because idiots will think its fast just cause its a mustang, trust me people think my car is blazing fast and i have a v6... but in a case like mine, ive always been a big mustang guy and i didnt really have any other option, i went to a dealer auction, and didnt even know what kind of car i was gonna get. i ended up getting a great price for my car, i had a 5k limit and thats what it was, that was a year ago and its a 2000, and its not a stripped down version. it even had the mach 460 cd player and whatnot. so i basically got the car because of the deal i got on it and my price range limitations. keep in mind im not quite 18 yet... but they actually make turbo kits for the car and i plan on saving for one and getting a new rear-end and tranny, then it will have some atleast respectable power. either that or ill just wait till i graduate college and get new one with a v8 or something idk

Yeah another one of my classmates has a 95 Taurus GL...not SHO...but he bought it with SVT stickers on the sides and back....and he apparantely "raced" a SHO and beat it once so he was thinking his car was a special model and was fast. Well it took 2 semesters but I finally decided to research this and found no such thing, and proceded to tell him he just had stickers on his car and it was slow. He goes online and looks it up, and here's his words "See look, my engine has 235 hp, the SHO only has 200"...my reply "Dude, thats the cubic inches of the engine" LOL! Then he did some more research and found that his 0-60 was 10.7 seconds. So I consider him schooled on the matter, just gotta teach em thats all!

Last week i was going to Sears in the local mall (which is slowly dying...) and i met an old friend of mine from high school, we got to talking about cars and shit. Then some guy who was there too (apparently he was going to buy my friend's car, which is like a late 80's accord 5 spd).
He's like "oh yeah i'm gonna use a spoon engine and twin turbo it with NOS and get a widebody kit."
Since it seems like i'm the only person in this damn county knowledgeable about cars i open my big mouth and tell him that FI on a spoon engine is useless because its high compression and with the double impact of two turbos and nitrous, that shits gonna blow up, not to mention i doubt you'd have any traction and he was like "naw yo i know some guy [AS SUCH PEOPLE ALWAYS DO] and he'll hook me up with a computer that will handle it."

He started revving at me. One of the most god awful sounds in the world was coming from this car. It was like a fart cannon with a bunch of holes cut in it. Anyways, I humored the kid, and outran him to 45 MPH. Backed off there. I got the ricer fly-by, and the hazards flashed at me. Whatever jackass. Apparently the three cars I had on him to 45 MPH wasn't convincing enough for him. lol

But buy theres this kid at my school that really ticks me off (I go to auto school). Anyway, he has something like a 86 civic, first generation of FI. 18' 'dubs' and a fart cannon. He swears to shit that his car is the end all of all racecars. My buddies even told me that he was talking shit aobut my TII. I found this kid and bet him 100 bucks in a race. Of course the tool wouldn't bite stating "oh my engiens got problems" and blah blah, to which i responded "well, my tranny's no good and my rear end is wasted, and 100 bucks says i'll STILL beat you". Still nothing.

Nothing is more satisfying than wasting these wankjobs :)
