Mystery ModMustang5.0 04-04-2005, 10:37 AM I bought my 5.0 back in September, where the previous owner showed me a slip of the car running a 13.8 1/4 mile. I recently found out a stock 91 runs a 14.7. He claims the only mod is a stage 3 bronze clutch. Im pretty sure a clutch won't knock nearly a second off my time, but what else could it be? I know the owner ot be an honest person so I don't think he is lieng. Could I be missing something? clawhammer 04-04-2005, 11:42 AM Post a picture of your engine. We might be able to tell if you have something done to it. Why don't you simply ask him? Drifty 04-04-2005, 11:45 AM maybe he redid the gears and ran on drag radials Mustang5.0 04-04-2005, 01:16 PM I already asked, he said it's bone stock except for the clutch and rear springs. I'll try to get a picture, but I have cold-air intake now. Neutrino 04-04-2005, 01:29 PM moved to non spec there is the posibility that this car is just a factory freak AWP9521 04-04-2005, 01:41 PM Maybe he just got it to hook up off the line, I've seen a lot of stock and modded Stangs at the strip and the one thing they mostly all had in common was blistering the treads off the line, no matter how much they tried they just couldn't hook it up from a dig or or else they bogged the engine badly. Unless they ran Drag Radials or Slicks it was almost always a very smokey start down the track. CassiesMan 04-05-2005, 08:46 PM Software? clawhammer 04-05-2005, 08:53 PM Software? It's domestic, I'd really doubt that they would have software for it. I don't even think it's fuel injected. dampachi 04-05-2005, 09:05 PM It's domestic, I'd really doubt that they would have software for it. I don't even think it's fuel injected. I don't think they've put a carb'd motor in a car since like..1980? PWRDbyUNCLEbens 04-06-2005, 03:43 AM I don't think a simple computer mod (not sure what they had) would knock that kind of time off. Good Conditions (track/weather), and a good launch could have made all the difference. GTStang 04-08-2005, 05:58 AM It's domestic, I'd really doubt that they would have software for it. Not true, my Blazer was a 1986 and it had a carb'd 350 in it. I know there is a car company that still used carbs up untill the early 90s, But the name is slipping my mind at the moment. I just had this conversation a while back... drftk1d 04-08-2005, 06:33 PM he's talking abot ford, redneck. GTStang 04-09-2005, 01:21 AM Not true, my Blazer was a 1986 and it had a carb'd 350 in it.
