Load leveling suspension noise?

New to the forum gotta ask my questions!!

Ever since we got this van "NEW" randomly it would make a loud sound that I could only describe as farting?. It is obviously the air compressor leveling but I cant believe that Chevy would sell something that makes such an embarrrising noise that my wife hates. Do other people have this issue or is it maybe just my van?
PS Just for the record 65000 miles and no issues I really like the van so far!

Mine makes that too, or shall I say "used to" as the system developed problems late in the fall last year. I ended up pulling the fuse as the motor would not stop after the vehicle was shut off. The rear of the van would go way up in the air and look really ridiculous. Once it reached that high of a height, the motor would shut off and then the van would slowly go back to it's original height, followed by the motor tuning on again and repeating the cycle. I plan to do a little research and see if I can replace the rear shocks with ones from a van that doesn't have the leveling system. It was embarrassing to be sitting in the van in public, (i.e. a parking lot,) and having that motor go off unexpectedly and people walking by the van would give you strange looks. :uhoh:

I have a 02 with the load leveling and the only noise I hear is the pump running, it sounds like a small compressor. Other than that no embarassing noise.

Mine sounds more like a low tone "growling". That is what a passer-by said to me one time, "It sounds as if your van is growling at me."
