tranny chatterWodinator 04-02-2005, 03:58 PM ok, I replaced the cooling lines that were leaky (btw, thanks to the enthusiast that suggested I remove the splash guard to get to the lower line....that REALLY made the job the easier :),topped off the fluid with Mercon V (as per spec). While driving in overdrive at around 2500 RPM's, the trans chatters. Any suggestions? denisb 04-04-2005, 07:09 AM I know on my Pathfinder, I tried Lucas and it worked as a band-aid. I then changed the oil and filter (not flushed). It's been about three months now and chatter is still gone. It will be a little more of a pain to change oil in a Taurus tranny, since I beleive there is no drain plug, but it's probably worth a try and cheaper than taking the tranny out. Denis Wodinator 04-05-2005, 01:13 AM Lucas??? I have no clue what that is, please enlighten me. :) Willyum 04-05-2005, 01:30 PM Is all the fluid Mercon V or is it mixed? Wodinator 04-06-2005, 12:39 AM well, i hate to admit, but at one point, I did put non-Mercon V in it. I am sure it all leaked out since then. I've only put in Mercon V since I changed the lines. denisb 04-06-2005, 11:23 AM Lucas??? I have no clue what that is, please enlighten me. :) They manifacture oil conditioner for all types of oils. UAP/NAPA should carry. Denis Wodinator 04-14-2005, 11:28 PM I threw in the Lucas, and BLAMMO! what a difference!!! I'd have to say 95% of the chatter is gone, the trans shifts easier too. Thanks for the advice. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
