ok, I replaced the cooling lines that were leaky (btw, thanks to the enthusiast that suggested I remove the splash guard to get to the lower line....that REALLY made the job the easier :),topped off the fluid with Mercon V (as per spec). While driving in overdrive at around 2500 RPM's, the trans chatters. Any suggestions?

I know on my Pathfinder, I tried Lucas and it worked as a band-aid. I then changed the oil and filter (not flushed). It's been about three months now and chatter is still gone. It will be a little more of a pain to change oil in a Taurus tranny, since I beleive there is no drain plug, but it's probably worth a try and cheaper than taking the tranny out.

Is all the fluid Mercon V or is it mixed?

well, i hate to admit, but at one point, I did put non-Mercon V in it. I am sure it all leaked out since then. I've only put in Mercon V since I changed the lines.

They manifacture oil conditioner for all types of oils. UAP/NAPA should carry.

I threw in the Lucas, and BLAMMO! what a difference!!! I'd have to say 95% of the chatter is gone, the trans shifts easier too. Thanks for the advice.
