I have a 1996 C280 and pulled a trouble code 1700. My scanner says it is manufacturer specific. Can someone tell me what this code would translate to?

Thanks for any help.

which dash light is on or what control unit is it in? Is it current or stored?

I should be able to find out for you on monday what the DTC is.

It's the check engine light and it is a stored code.I cleared it and the light comes back on in a day.I'd appreciate the help in decifering the code.

Thanks

If I remember correctly I think that's a air flow signal code. With that car look at the MAS as the first culprit....if that's the code I think it is but it's been over a year since I've worked on these cars!

when you said check engine, thats immediatly what I thought. Can you read the voltage of the MAF sensor with the ignition on? it should be between .98V and 1.03V to still be acceptable.

If it is the sensor, and you replace it you will also have to reset your mixture adaptation values, just fyi.
