valve cover gasket 91 S10 barfly320 03-30-2005, 06:47 PM
I'm trying to remove my valve cover to reset the gasket. The heater core hose is in my way at this point in thme. It's metel until it get past the valve cover it self, Then it turns to rubber. the truck got washed out in the flood we had last september "eivan" When we tried to start the motor. we can make it run as long as we keep pooring gas in the motor by hand but it back fires and knocked the gasket out. And I can't figure how to get it around the metel heater core hose. help please OverBoardProject 03-30-2005, 09:21 PM Just a warning. Often trucks that were in a flood like that will never run right. You'd probably have to replace all the electrical system and then some. Trace the hard line from 1 end to the other and you'll find a way to seperate it from the motor. Probably where it leaves the motor I'd just get it running first and then decide if it's even worth fixxing anything else. Good Luck.... You need it barfly320 03-30-2005, 10:06 PM it don't sound bad at all when it's running. There was no water in the motor I drained the oil right aways and the Tran fluid. neither one had much water. I seem to of had more in the power stearing pump and inside the truck fromt the fire wall. then anyplace else. if anything I just want to fix the truck to use only as a work truck I have about everyting pulled out. even b4 It got all wet. dashboard and all OverBoardProject 03-30-2005, 11:14 PM you might have gotten lucky then. drain the differentials too. They might have filled right up through the vents. If you don't have to run it through some sort of air care you can always put a carb on and a points style distributer. You can make it run then for sure Mango™ 04-01-2005, 12:08 PM No answered removing the heater hose, I have the same issue. rlith 04-02-2005, 06:55 AM No answered removing the heater hose, I have the same issue. Remove the AC compressor (just put it off to the side without disconnecting the hoses) Then twist up and out.. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
