scottsee, dont forget that cometic recomends a finish ra of 30, IIRC. A very smooth finish. Otherwise they dont seem to seal as well. A sweet gasket, when used properly.

Verify that number, its been a while since I looked into it. But in simple terms, you need practically a mirror finish on the block and head to effectively use a cometic gasket to its full potential.
