Dear Aspire Owners,

My husband and I recently acquired a 94 Aspire from his daughter. It was making a horrible noise, we took it to a trany shop, they specified the front right wheel bearings need to be replaced. My husband got all the necessary tools and information, pulled the tire off, and attempted to loosen the driveaxle nut. It must be removed to get the driveaxle out so the bearings can be accessed. Lo and behold, the dang thing wont come loose. We have broken 3 tools trying to get it to budge. We hesitate to pay a mechanic to repair this for us at the Ford Dealership, any advice??? That is the only reason we cannot fix the problem and keep driving it. We also took it to my dad's and had him apply some heat to the driveaxle nut to try and loosen it, no such luck. We are desperate please help.

Thank you for replying. We did think of that and no it isn's a reverse thread. Good thought though. We have been told this is quite a booger to get off, but we have not yet been successful. Again thank for the time you took to reply. We are still without our little Aspire. Dear Aspire Owners,

Yes I too had an issue while trying to get the stupid ones off mine to take the tranny out what I did was went and spent Way to much money on a 1" yes thats right a 1" drive socket set with a 3 foot handle and let me tell you this I had the car 2" off the ground with 2 of us lifting and it broke loose. Other than that I was in the same boat I tried Impact guns and everything eaven broke some of my Snap On Sockets tring to get it. Eather get some really quality tools or go to a tool rental place and rent the Drive and the right size socket in a 1" sixe and I will bet you shall be breaking the thing loose in no time. hope that helped

Thanks superiorlite, that makes alot more sense than what we expected to hear. We will definately try it. My husband laughed but was like "DUH that is so what we should do." I will post if it works out. Thanks again.

These wheel bearings are known to go bad.....easiest to relace the entire bearing hub assy...cost lil' more but time saving. I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar & heavy duty socket. Lucky for me I had a 6 Ft piece of RIDGID electrical conduit laying around & used that as an extension over the breaker bar...worked like a champ. Can get the conduit @Lowes or Home Depot.....
