Has anyone installed/used one of these?BlenderWizard 03-27-2005, 12:41 AM I was just wondering; I just saw an advertisement for this. http://www.turbonator.com/index.html?id=adWordsSilverado Does anyone have one? Just looking for ways to save gas. Faze2183 03-27-2005, 02:18 AM all it is, is a tornado BlenderWizard 03-27-2005, 09:13 AM But does it work, and is there a cheaper alternative? TexasF355F1 03-27-2005, 09:33 PM No. It's bullshit, it doesn't do shit. 3wbdriver 03-28-2005, 10:43 PM I've managed to tweak my V-6 Silvy from 19 up to almost 22mpg, by adding a tonneau, and a K&N airfilter. The filter is available at most auto shops at around $40, and is guaranteed for 1,000,000 miles. You just wash it out occasionally, and re-oil it. If you want a cold air kit to go with it, you're looking at a couple hundred. I have one in my '72 Blazer (.030 over 350), and it gained my a full 1 1/4 mpg. In a heavy old Beast like that, anything over 9mpg is BONUS. I'll take a 10% gain anytime. J-Ri 03-28-2005, 11:03 PM A buddy of mine said it helped a bit (the Tornado, not specifically this brand), but it gave him at best .5mpg in his 2001 Malibu, and it broke up. He said there was a big piece of it about to go in the throttle body. Another buddy of mine tried it (also the Tornado), and he said it made a big difference, although his driving varies greatly from day-to-day, and he goes by how many days a tank lasts. I personally would not try it, but it's of course up to you. spackelman 03-28-2005, 11:10 PM Yea - I am a dope. Have the 8.1. Thought if it it saved me 1/2 mi per gallon, it would pay eventually pay for itself. Did not really notice any difference. When I put it in, I also dumped fuel injector cleaner in the tank, put a fresh k & n filter in and filled the tank with premeium. With that combo, I noticed a vey nice difference. However, the tornado alone is worthless. But at least I'm man enough to admit I was a stupid man. More than I can say about others in this forum. Cmon guys, I know your out there... Admit it - you laid out good hard earned money for this, admit it, I'll wait. rustcal 03-28-2005, 11:21 PM a filter alone (k&n) will help your mph and hp. the vortec engine is just that, a swirl effect. that is what a tornado does, cause the air to swirl and speed up causing more air to enter the cambers. combo's are our best bet on mod's. Just my thoughts. Jay eS Iye 03-29-2005, 08:29 AM i've been told they actually help on carbed engines but not FI BlenderWizard 03-29-2005, 08:48 AM i've been told they actually help on carbed engines but not FI Sorta like acetone... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
