my 2 cars duke it out!V8CAT 03-27-2005, 12:38 AM me and my friend, who has a minivan so he needs some speed to keep him sane, took my 1990 super coupe with exhaust and smaller blower pulley, over 12 psi but thats all the gauge reads, and raced my 94 cougar v8. off the line the cougar walks away because of all the thunderbirds wheelspin but to the story. we're flying down a country road at a little over 100 mph, and a guy on the side of the road was mowing his yard and blowing the grass into the road right in front of us, so we fly by, and blow the grass all over him in his face. he was so pissed. i wish i could have taken a picture of his face. instant classic!about 10 minutes later, we pulled over to let the cars cool off before heading home, and a county sheriff pulls up next to us and asks if we've seen anyone racing on this road we were just smokin' down. we said no , and he proceeded to tell me to be very careful in his county 'cuz he "knew better than to believe my crap". it was alot of fun, but i probably wouldn't race on that road again. one of my easier run ins with "the law" CamaroSSBoy346 03-27-2005, 01:06 AM i'm assuming you took out the stock govener on your 4.6? V8CAT 03-27-2005, 01:15 AM i'm assuming you took out the stock govener on your 4.6? Yeah , a local dealer who did my Superchip raised it to 120 mph. It will "peg" the speedo now. street_racer_00 03-27-2005, 01:22 AM I'm so confused, I didn't even know they made 'bird SCs in 1990. Ghost96Gt 03-27-2005, 01:24 AM yeah friend of mine has one kinda a sleeper eh? V8CAT 03-27-2005, 01:25 AM I'm so confused, I didn't even know they made 'bird SCs in 1990. Yeah, the newer curvier body style began in 1989, along with an available factory supercharger (Eaton) in the SC's. believe me, I have a red one in my driveway right now. Ghost96Gt 03-27-2005, 01:26 AM yeah he wanted to scare u had no evidence it was u, just figured. V8CAT 03-27-2005, 01:28 AM yeah friend of mine has one kinda a sleeper eh? He He, yeah if thats what you wanna call it. he considers a mod to be a new tire on the left front. He has an Aerostar with a 3.0 L v6 and it cant get out of its own way! street_racer_00 03-27-2005, 01:33 AM oh really? I thought the T-birds were still using the cheese wedge styling in 1990...my bad. emokid15 03-27-2005, 11:37 AM dont some come with turbo. i saw 1 that it said turbo on the rear bumper or i just saw wrong. CamaroSSBoy346 03-27-2005, 01:44 PM yea. the Turbo version was built upon the Fox body Thunderbird platform. It had the same engine as the SVO Mustang (Well..kinda) It had the Turbocharged 2.3L They were built from 1985 until 1988. 1988 was the fastest. There were no Cougar versions like this. The Turbo Coupe had special front facias 1989 was the first year for the MN12. They built the Super Coupe untill 1995. 95 being the fastest. The Super Coupes were super charged, and came with option 5-speeds, which are very rare. They also had the Cougar come with the S/C engine, and rarer, even were the 5-speed Cougars. tha_new_guy 03-28-2005, 04:27 PM I almost ended up with a '95 5-speed T-bird. It was the only of its kind I've sene that was s'charged AND manual, man I should have bought that car. I mean, WHO suspects a t-bird? I mean, WHO suspects a t-bird? Is this a Super Coupe (V6) that was supercharged and a 5-speed? Because the 5-Speed Super Coupes are pretty rare, but there are still alot of them about. If it was an LX or Sport (V8), that was S/C'd and 5-Speed, then, thats even rarer. There are only 7-8 (SEVEN, EIGHT..) of these in the United States..or the world. And there are only TWO that have a Supercharger. tha_new_guy 03-28-2005, 05:41 PM Is this a Super Coupe (V6) that was supercharged and a 5-speed? CamaroSSBoy346 03-28-2005, 08:25 PM It was a super coupe. :) Why are the Manual V8's so rare? Because the V8's never came with a manual. Just the slushbox autotragic 4R70W. And, simply bolting in a Tremec isnt so easy. If you bolt one up as is, the shifter would come in under the dashboard...so there has to be lotsa mods. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
