severe steering pull

while driving down the road in my 99 tahoe it will suddenly pull right or left, like if you were not holding the wheel you would go off the road, seems like it might be related to the four wheel drive system. any ideas?

Don't get me wrong but I'm pretty sure torque steer is on front wheel drive vehicles, thus not effecting this. I know the Silverado's had a problem with their electric steering but I think that was later years, not yours. Give a few more details. Does it do it all the time, or just randomly? Have you done anything to the truck, prob not too effective but is the pressure in both front tires the same? Be a little more specific and someone will surely be able to help.

I had a similair problem, my control arm had to be removed on one side and reinstalled and then fully alighned. Also the 99 tahoe has some electronic stearing box which maybe your issue because mine was only pulling to one side not both. hope this helps

Hi,could be that one of your cam bolts on the upper control arm came loose.(Happens all the time)Ussually will clunk when bakes are applied.Must be realigned!

Rotate your tires. It might feel worse for awhile after that but after a few miles it will get better. Then get an alignment.

Thanks for everyones help. I'd never figured out the hard pull on the steering was caused by this sensor. It is located under the dash on the steering shaft held in place by one 15mm bold.
