SOHC to DOHC swap???Stangfrk16 03-24-2005, 10:39 AM My fiance blow her 93 sc1 engine, i got a great deal on my buddie's wrecked 91 sc2 motor. Does anyone know what is needed to swap these two... i was told i wouldn't have to swap the computer as long as i swap the head,so it would end up staying a SOHC... which is no problem, the car just needs to go is all.. but i was also told i could just swap it straight in.... I don't know much about saturn's...... tell you anything about a mustang!! anyway please help.. would prefer email to classicstang16@gmail.com.... Thanks Stangfrk16 03-24-2005, 10:44 AM i will aslo sell this 93 saturn and motor if anyone wants it.. car runs just blows mass amount of smoke... has 200 worth of work on the current head (new guides ect.) plus the extra motor has an aftermarket intake (i think) and some other things.. my buddy had it in his 15 second flat saturn (not very fast but quick for a saturn... just call 936-689-6283...interior is in great shaoe and exterior is in good shape. i'm in dayton ohio sierrap615 03-24-2005, 10:44 PM zippy_LiL_SL1 01-26-2006, 06:43 PM It's way awesome to post that link, but what if a person wants to change out ONLY the head (and the other neccessary components), not the whole motor? Washer Fluid 01-27-2006, 01:23 PM 91 to 93 will not work crank sensor is differant engine will not run saturnspeed_12 01-27-2006, 09:03 PM oh man a sohc tbi to a dohc takes quite a bit. it needs the entire wiring harness in order to get it done. zippy_LiL_SL1 02-02-2006, 02:17 PM oh man a sohc tbi to a dohc takes quite a bit. it needs the entire wiring harness in order to get it done. No I'd use the DOHC tbi. I just want to put a DOHC head (I know I would need dohc intake and exhaust manifolds) on my 2000 SL1. I've heard it can be done, and isn't all that expensive or hard, just time consuming. Wiring I can do with my eyes closed. Only hard part for me is waiting for summer. Can this be done? EDIT: just realized DOHC isn't tbi, now is it. saturnspeed_12 02-02-2006, 03:28 PM dohc is not tbi. your thinking of the 99 and newer vertical throttle bodies. its still mpfi, just with a vertical throttle body. zippy_LiL_SL1 02-07-2006, 01:42 PM So it's basically not easier but more economical/efficient to swap the whole engine instead of just the head? sierrap615 02-08-2006, 11:09 PM So it's basically not easier but more economical/efficient to swap the whole engine instead of just the head? that depends on the condistion of the engine, goals, intentions, part compatiblity, time, money, tools, and skill saturnspeed_12 02-09-2006, 05:56 PM So it's basically not easier but more economical/efficient to swap the whole engine instead of just the head? its far better off, because you are going to need the harness and pcm. zippy_LiL_SL1 02-09-2006, 07:28 PM Well, CANCEL all of what I just posted.... Tuesday, Feb 7, I wrecked my beloved Saturn. The appraisal guy is telling me 10 to 1 it will be totaled out. DAMN!! I'll post details later. saturnspeed_12 02-09-2006, 07:32 PM oh man, that sucks. zippy_LiL_SL1 02-10-2006, 07:42 PM Yeah, I'm just going to take the insurance money and try to find me a 98 SL2. That will take care of the DOHC problem..:) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
