2 wd 4runner in the snowkirbyjrt 03-23-2005, 10:45 AM I may be interested in a 2001 4runner, the thing is, it is the 2wd model SR5. I live in a snowy eastern region of the country and was curious how bad/good the 2wd model is in the snow. I currently have a 2002 Tacoma TRD, that I may trade. Thank you. Brian R. 03-23-2005, 10:41 PM It's all relative. It's better than a 2WD pick-up because of more weight in the back above the drive wheels. It's better than a RWD car because of ground clearance. It is worse than alot of things that are front wheel drive or 4WD. You won't feel the need for 4WD unless the snow is higher than about 8-10 inches.
