On the the right of the oil filter there is a oil filler cap with grooves and it has a little dip-stick, also a pint of fluid in reserve.
It has writen on it "ATF" what Is that thing ?
How do you read the dip-stick ?
What type of oil is that?

Sounds like your power-steering fluid.
ATF - Automatic Transmission Fluid, used for autos and power-streering.

Taken from my owners manual -

With the engine stopped, unscrew the reservoir cap and insert again.
The oil level must be between the marks on the dipstick.
Add oil if necessary.
Run the engine. Top up oil if necessary until it is between the two marks.
Switch off the engine. The oil level may rise to approximately 5mm above the mark.
Replace the reservoir cap.

Hope this helps.

Note:This is for my car which is a 1996 model - but guessing it is probably the same.

Cheers,
Rossco.
