I have recently fallen in love with my LHS. I want it to always look its best. So my question is what products does everyone use to:

1) protect and or clean leather seats.

2) Which wax is the best (protection) not application.

3) tire care

4) rims

5) carpet

6) car wash soap

7) anything else I missed (engine products etc.)

I purchased the 5 Star Shine “5 Year Paint Protection System” in March 2008 for my new vehicle. After 6 months of washing with a PH neutral car wash, which they recommend, the rinse water and/or rain no longer beaded up on the car’s finish.

I contacted the company, and they suggested purchasing the 5 Star cleaner to restore the original 5 Star protection. This worked for a few months, but now I am back to no water beading up on my car.
When I purchased the product, I was under the assumption that the 5 Star finish would last for 5 years. They advertise their product as maintenance-free. This is not the case.

If I have to reapply a $10.00 bottle of their cleaner every 6 months to maintain the finish, this defeats the entire purpose of why I purchased the product. It not only becomes expensive, but time consuming as well. I am convinced that their product is a scam, and only protects the car finish for approximately 6 months.

They also advertise a “money back guarantee” on their website if dissatisfied. They have yet to refund my money, or reply to my repeated phone calls and letters. I am in the process of contacting the State Attorney’s Office in Tallahassee, Florida, to file a formal complaint.

I am now using Meguiares, and am very happy.
