Have you tried pulling out the fuel nozzle a little bit from the filler tube ? Sometimes that works when I have trouble getting gas in the tank.

I know that the gas pump nozzles kick off when gas is splashed back against the nozzle, I can't figure out why the gas would not flow down the filler tube when it is cold out. The only guess I have at this point would be the anti-siphon spring that is in the filler neck if it is getting cold enough that the spring is contracing to the point that the gas can't flow past the coils of the spring. The spring is cone shaped and if it is contracting enough it would be like sealing off the filler neck.
The only thing that I can think to try is to find some thing that is flexible enough to fit in the filler tube yet stiff enough to try to stretch out the spring, you would have to be very careful so you do not break the spring loose to where it would slide down into the tank.
I hope that makes some sense, It's all I can think of at this point.

I found my 99 Grand am will do that if I leave it running while I'm trying to pump the gas...
