Hey everyone,
Don't know if U all remember me, but I posted awhile back about owning a Skyline overseas. Being in the military myself, I was curious to know how much the Skylines were $$. Yes my question was answered, but now I need to know if they are offered in Korea. I was supposed to get stationed in Japan but that didn't happen. (sucks) But Korea was offered. I decided to take the duty station, hence since the shopping is excellent maybe I can pick up a GT-R (preffered) for under 15k (excell cond) If not less.
N E ways, let me know forum gang.:smoker2:
:) .....THE WAIT IS OVER....FINALLY....(well almost) :(

I have seen some from there posted for sale on ebay a couple of times.

How much do you know about Korea? I know that the people there really do not drive, THEY AIM.

Plus, the Korean Krud kinda sucks as well.

I hope you have some cash saved up, it's going to take $34,000 just to get them into the country and on the streets:eek:

I am Navigation Tech in the USAF.

I guess R33 has been there:D

So I guess they'R not offered in Korea? I guess I'll have to visit a neighboring country to get 1 really cheap. Damn I would have save mucho $$$ buying the car in Korea since every else is really cheap there. Oh as for driving it, the car actually would have been in storage while being stationed there.
Hey SkylineUSA, u know somebody whos been there? We won't ask R33, since it seems like he had a bad experience with the chicks there...
Good looking out guys...thanks :D

I know someone there. My neighbour is there now (on 2 year contract). Apart from garlic and ginger, Korea is also famous for it's typhoon! Just hope your GTR would not be blown off man...:D

Nope, but if you work things out you should be able to get on a MAC flight over to Japan to buy one:D

Now the big problem is getting it into the States. You will still need to get it US streat legal, easy to do with some cars like the Silvia since it has it's US counter part the 240SX or even cars like Honda's Type R's. The Skyline however will take major work so you have to go to Motorex and pay them $25,000 to get your car US streat legalized and that's after shipping. Normally if I recall if a soldier owns his POV for over a year Uncle Sam will ship your car for free along with your house hold goods. SO unless you plan to have the car shipped to Korea, store it there while you do your tour (2 years as I recall), and then have it shipped to the State's, you'll need to come up with some big bucks $$$$ not including the purchase price.

Of course you might get lucky and find one already in Korea, but since Nissan doesn't sell them there you'll have slim pickings. At least the women there should give you a wide choice to choose from:devil:

Korea has a HUGE import tax (like 300%) on most foreign cars and ESPECIALLY Japanese Cars. Check your history and you'll find that Koreans don't really get along too well with the Japanese.
I was there just before the Won crashed and heard that lots of people were buying american cars on the Korean market at HUGE savings (like $10K less than in the US) You might look into getting a Mustang SVT or something and through a dealer and keeping it cocooned on base.
I've been stationed in both Korea and now in japan. Save your cash, and shoot for orders to Japan. Then you can pick up the car of your dreams. I'm driving a GTS-T now that I picked up for under $3000. After another $2000 of mods its turned out to be a real screamer.. Good luck in the land o' the garlic eaters.

Yeah yeah I know that.
My plans R to purchase it outside the country n keep it in storage while there. I'm sure there is a way to do it like that n avoid that I/tax. Hey your a lucky SOB. I was supposed to get Japan as my duty stationed originally. Im still pissed about it. For sure though, I'll be begging for orders over to Japan once I get there.. . :smoker2:
Hey email me (sliknoggin) n tell more bout ol garlic land.
Thanks

You should know that you can pick ANY base you want after a remote tour like Korea, so just come here to Yokota AB in Tokyo and buy any one of the thousands of Skylines on base or go off base and get a GTR for under $10,000!
My friend Collin in Yokohama has a beautiful gunmetal R32 GTR he picked up years ago for around $16,000.

I picked up mine for 14k (US) with only 47k kilo's on it..... I'm down in Yokosuka. I know Collin pretty well.....he's done a lot of work on it...last dyno I heard (as I was explaining to someone else a while ago) was 450 at the wheels. I bored to 2.7 and have been workin to pass him....I'll find out next weekend if I succeeded. He was talking to me last Tuesday about leaving the engine where it is and start cutting drive train losses. I'm lookin to do the same...After I hit 500 :)

Your best bet is picking one up from an old JN who just bought the car for show....and doesn't know how to use it. One of the newest editions to the base is a mid blue R33. The guy picked it up for 16k with less than 35k on the car!
