How do you install speakers in the doors?Cant get the stuff off.Anyone? Hoags 03-20-2005, 08:51 PM What year is your car? dubblek 03-20-2005, 10:02 PM 04 Grand am Hoags 03-21-2005, 12:15 AM I don't know how much I can help. I have a 96, but I do not think that it would have changed all that much. In order to get to the speakers to change them out you will need to remove the interior door panel. Look for a couple of screws by the door handle, In my car there is one located at the back of the arm rest and one under the grab handle itself. after they are removed you can pull the door panel off, there are plastic grip pins that hole the panel on the door, there is a special too that you can buy for this I use a pair of needle nose pliers. Carefully pull on the door panel to find the grip pins slide the pliers in on each side of the pin and work the pin out, pull the others out and then you have access to the speaker. The other door panel is the same. In my GA there were 4 screws holding the speaker in place. Wlecome to the forum, you will be able to get plenty of advise and help here there are a lot of Grand am smart people here. Good luck. I hope this helps, Maybe some one else has some more input for you. But this should at least get you started in the right direction. dubblek 03-21-2005, 05:12 PM thanks dlphn2005 05-29-2005, 06:52 PM I have a 96 and I'm trying to remove the door panels. Do you have to take off the window handle? If so, how do you remove it? Knifeblade_03 05-29-2005, 09:57 PM Can't say the following link helps the '04 ride, but it should help the '96 ride Knifeblade_03 05-29-2005, 10:00 PM http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0e/5f/2a/0900823d800e5f2a.jsp If ya don't have the illustrated tool, it okay. Get a very thin rag [bedsheet thickness] and use that instead of the tool, it works, but may take a few more tries. Just make sure you work the rag underneath the handle washer [between the washer and the panel itself]. Knifeblade_03 05-29-2005, 10:02 PM Old School, baby :lol2: And, yes, ya have to take off the handle prior to removal of the door panel, just look at it :p Knifeblade_03 05-29-2005, 10:06 PM S'up, Dan? :icon16: Ridenour 05-29-2005, 10:27 PM Dubblek, to remove the door panel on your '04, do the following: Undo the screw on the tray thing behind the handle Remove screw and tray thing Pop out / disconnect window and lock switch Unscrew screw exposed down in the hole left by switch Pop off reflector at corner of door Unscrew screw concealed by reflector Unscrew screw in hole at base of vertical door handle Those are all the screws holding on the door panel. You will now need to grasp the top of the door and pull up and out, working your way around the door. You will hear the "Riiiipppppppp-ing" of all the christmas tree fasteners as they pull out. It will sound like you're breaking stuff, but you're not, just keep pulling straight outward at all the edges. It might help if you remove the triangle speaker first up at the top - to do this, just simply grab it, squeeze it, and pull on it. The whole procedure is quite simple, you just gotta keep pullin and working your way around it. Knifeblade_03 05-30-2005, 08:40 AM S'up, ride? Getting any of late????????? :smokin: :evillol: :p Ridenour 05-30-2005, 09:37 AM LoL Oh I wish :) - I've had some decent fun though on the woman front... if ya know what I mean. :) Hoags 05-31-2005, 05:31 AM Hey Guys, Sorry I haven't been around much, got too much going on. I've been running my mom around to diff. doctors, just found out that she has a bad hip, also been running the neighbor for his doctor appts. [ He's holding his own...not gettin' better but not gettin' worse], and on top of all of that I've been doing what I can around the inlaws place, they're getting ready to put their house on the market. Place is too big for the two of them. Only draw back is that they're looking in my neighborhood. If they find a place here you might as well say I have got a second home to maintain. I'll try to jump on the Forum at every chance, Catch ya soon, Dan Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
