speakerspunk_ur 03-19-2005, 06:17 PM I have a 1997 ford escort lx sedan and my front pasenger speaker blew out the other day i had installed a new speaker attaching it to the existing wires and now i have to turn the volume to nearly max to get it to sound quietly and can not get it to go any louder but the rest of the speakers are working what is wrong? Riley McGee 03-19-2005, 06:32 PM Is it an after market speaker? Check to see if it is 8 ohm because I think the originals are 4 ohm. riley punk_ur 03-19-2005, 06:38 PM it is a 4 ohm, plus i have tried with other stock spearker from rear and i have tried stock speaker from driver side Riley McGee 03-19-2005, 09:03 PM Is the head end of your radio/receiver fused at the speaker outs? Does each speaker have it's own fuse? did you switch the connections at the speaker itself to see if they are phased properly? mustang302 03-21-2005, 09:22 AM You've probably got the speaker wires mixed up, try swapping them. spidermann59 03-22-2005, 07:12 PM it is a 4 ohm, plus i have tried with other stock spearker from rear and i have tried stock speaker from driver side Did the other stock speakers work?? If not, the radio is suspect. If your into it swap channels with jumpers and see what happens. Do yourself a favor and do not cut off the original stock connectors :P Their are pig tails that make it very easy for testing and hooking up aftermarket headunits. Only the radio has a fuse and the stock wiring should be fine, and unless you are running high power, polarity aint that important. Special note: make sure door speakers are waterproof! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
