96 Engine Surges

I've had my 96 Intrepid since new. It is a 3.5L with 133,000 miles. It has been running GREAT until recently. The engine is starting to surge. What I mean by that is the engine RPM increases and decreases at random. Speed doesn't matter all though it is much more noticable at lower speeds. For the most part is idles just fine at about 700rpm. I have NO check engine light.

Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

check your transmission fluid, and when was the last time it was serviced?

My car did this when the battery went south . Showed low voltage during a charging system test at auto zone .Headlights lights followed the random idle.

The tranny fluid is full and the battery has been checked. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. My check engine light has not come on to date.

Thanks again.

check your fuel pressure, make sure you don't low pressure. Your pressures should be around 44 to 54 psi.

Checked fuel pressure, reads 51 psi. The car doesn't miss and it idles perfect but has anyone seen bad plugs cause this problem? I've got about 50,000 on the plugs.

check also around your intake manifold for vacuum leaks, that could cause a surging problem as well
