which aftermarket brake pads?Beast 03-27-2002, 08:31 PM I am wondering what brake pads are better than the stock. I've been told changing the pads makes the biggest difference. I know all of you know how to go fast, but does anyone know how to slow down? shadowboy 03-28-2002, 07:35 AM you were told correctly http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/ you want a set of porterfield R4S's for the street, or performance friction from what i have heard, stay away from axis metal masters--they eat your rotors with not much gain in stopping power. do not get a set of full-on racing pads if you car is to be driven on the street.. they have a higher heat range and as such they need to be warmed up to work effectively. i am sure you dont wanna have to stand on the brakes just to stop from 15mph :D the porterfield R4S is an example of a performance carbon-metallic street pad 4GZChatch 03-28-2002, 01:06 PM I would have to put in a vote for AEM pads. They are made by Nissin, who also puts brakes on Porsche's cars (so I'm told), and I am riding on a set right now. They work great. They are a ceramic-aramid pad, which means that they require less warm-up time, resist heat better, and best of all, they are white and don't dirty up your wheels as fast. Mine are awesome, don't fade, work when it's cold (I've tested this on many a Utah winter morning!), and my civic actually stops now!
