1994 Chevey Corsica; 188,000 miles, 4cyl, 2.2, 3 spd GM 125 Hydromatic transmission.
Two years ago replaced trans filter and installed new filter without round plastic bushing that adapts the filter.
two days ago, tranny started to slip when accelerating from a comlete stop. 25 miles later wont go into any drives incl. reverse.
Fluid check showed that it was alot over full, never been that high before. Pulled off trans pan and filter wasn't attatched to trans, & fluid was dark, but not really that bad of a burnt smell.
Replaced filter corectly & used Duralube trans care along with Dexton 2. Still wont engage in any gears.

Nothin you can do about that. Sorry man, its gone. :-/
At least you got 188k miles out of it though, mine went at 126k. You can weigh your options, a rebuild will be ~2 g's, a used one form a junkyard would probably be $150 - $300 but no guarantee on how long itll last, or if it will even be good when you get it. You could check at Advance Auto (i know they can order reman trannies and engines) and see what kinda price they can get for you on a reman. unit. Probably around $900 then youd still have to pay for the installation. (another $300 - $600 depending where yu go, unless you do it yourself) All depends if the cars worth that much to you.

Yup..if its slipping..its fried. By the way..never replace tranny fluid yourself. You need a shop that can draw ALL the fluid out on oil changes. Just dropping the pan isnt going to do it. Secondly, you should change the oil every 10k to 20k at least
