Tubular Manifold being tested on Hyde (not for power)JekylandHyde 03-16-2005, 10:37 AM At the request of Berk Technology (http://www.berktechnology.com), I will be testing one of their tubular manifolds. It arrived yesterday, see photos below. With all that is being done to Hyde over the winter, along with the cost of tuning time with a standalone, it will not be cost-effective to do a before & after dyno of just the manifold. I wish this were possible, but it is just not feasible considering the deadlines I am under to get the car done. What Berk Technology is interested in testing on Hyde, is their manifold's ability to resist cracking. Considering the variety of racing that Hyde will be put through; drag, hill climbs and autocross, this should be an ample test to how their welds hold up. I'll post some more photos once the manifold is in. http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/bt_manifold_tn.jpg (http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/bt_manifold.jpg)<- click to make bigger ac427cpe 03-16-2005, 01:45 PM that is pretty sweet! TRD2000 03-16-2005, 09:18 PM Looks Very Sweet! Assuming Tuned Length? Could They Make One With Different Flanges? SHORTYBOY113 03-17-2005, 01:33 AM that looks like the manifold that they are selling on ebay. is that the same one? look on ebay and look for it. i think that is it. JekylandHyde 03-17-2005, 11:11 AM This is not the one from eBay ... but the pipes and design come from the same place. Several companies are importing the pipes and flanges for the 3SGTE in the configuration. The only difference between any of them is the quality of the welding and the bracing (if there is any). That is what we are testing for. TRD, you would have to contact Berk Technology about having a different flange installed. BlitzKeg 03-17-2005, 11:41 AM I'm interested to see how well these exhast manifods hold up. I've seen one on a intergra at my school...prolly the fasttest honda here. it was the same design but I have no clue were he got it from. SHORTYBOY113 03-17-2005, 05:03 PM if that manifold holds up well, u gotta tell me where to get it. TRD2000 03-17-2005, 05:09 PM any idea what they're gonna go for if it holds up Jeff? JekylandHyde 03-17-2005, 10:16 PM I believe they are for sale already ... check www.berktechnology.com Tell Bryan I sent you :) JekylandHyde 03-21-2005, 10:38 AM Unfortunately, this manifold is NOT going to happen. :( This piece was designed for use with the CT26 turbocharger, but there are way too many clearance issues with my T3/T4. My compressor housing is simply to large and it is just not going to happen. TRD2000 03-21-2005, 04:09 PM note to self. get manifold fab'd with car. Autofreefindersguy 03-23-2005, 09:42 AM Looks like an impressive unit! mr2gurl4life 03-30-2005, 01:12 PM Hey, let me know how that turns out, as I just bought the tub x, and downpipe. thnx JekylandHyde 03-30-2005, 02:14 PM If you check out my last post above, this test is not going to happen. My turbo did not clear the manifold. mr2gurl4life 03-30-2005, 02:19 PM Ooops! Didnt read that far... Well, i guess ill let YOU know how it works out then! LOL! :p SHORTYBOY113 03-31-2005, 12:44 PM how many bolt flange is the mr2 turbo. my buddy has a new garret t3/t4 60 trim turbo and it is a 3 bolt flange. should i go for it or should i get a ct20b? mr2gurl4life 03-31-2005, 06:45 PM how many bolt flange is the mr2 turbo. my buddy has a new garret t3/t4 60 trim turbo and it is a 3 bolt flange. should i go for it or should i get a ct20b? ummmm.... 4 bolts. :uhoh: TRD2000 03-31-2005, 06:57 PM ummm wastegate? is the t3/t4 internal or external wastegate? JekylandHyde 03-31-2005, 10:35 PM My T3T4 is externally wastegated. I believe you can get them with an internal gate as well, but I do not know why you would want to. shortyboy, the flange to get the turbo onto the engine is 4 bolts. The flange to get the "turbo elbow" onto the turbine is 6 or 7 I believe. That turbo elbow connects to the primary cat. mr2gurl4life 09-30-2005, 12:37 AM After running the tubular mani/ downpipe combo over the entire summer, I have to say, I am very impressed. Not only has it held up under hard driving through the canyons, but during the hottest time of the year, in temps over 100 f!! It runs smoother, and as an added bonus, had a noticable increase in power AND gas milage. As many know, horsepower increase+fuel effiencey, is a combo that normally doesnt increase at the same time(usually you have to lose out on one to gain on the other). I reccomend this little gem to all. :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
