So when I finally got it out much to my surprise I couldnt remove the fan from the water pump. I checked the mauals, went to autozone.com, went to autozone, nothing. SO I wanted to know if anybody could help me. Its a 96 chevy blazer 4.3 2wd. Officer Redneck 03-14-2005, 12:55 PM Welcome to the forum. Go buy yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual. They are helpfull with stuff like this. blazee 03-14-2005, 12:59 PM It is threaded on to the end of the water pump shaft, it's much easier to remove it with the water pump still in the vehicle and the belt on. Just use a large wrench, and tap it loose with a hammer, the tapping will break it loose. jdeems 04-24-2005, 04:59 PM i am tryin to get my water pump replaced but i am having problems removing the nut that holds the fand and clutch on the water pump. i have a haynes manual and it says hold the pump pulley and release the nut but it wont come off any hints would be great becasue i cant run my blazer till fixed by the way its a 4.3L rlith 04-24-2005, 05:09 PM i am tryin to get my water pump replaced but i am having problems removing the nut that holds the fand and clutch on the water pump. i have a haynes manual and it says hold the pump pulley and release the nut but it wont come off any hints would be great becasue i cant run my blazer till fixed by the way its a 4.3L Go to autozone and get their Ford fan clutch removal tool (under their load-a-tool) it will come right off. Whordan 12-05-2005, 10:37 PM I picked up a fan clutch removal tool, and now my question is... how do you use it? I see it has the wrench that fits perfectly to the big bolt. now whats the other short fork tool for? without a handle i dont see how it works, or even where it goes... by the way this is for a 4wd 96 blazer laxman21 12-06-2005, 11:37 AM Had the same problem. I was going on a trip and just had pep boys replace it for labor. Asked the guy how he got it off. Said they use an air chisel with a flat chisel on it. He said to leave the belt on for resistance. A couple of trigger pulls and it comes right off. I said Ok. Whordan 12-06-2005, 11:54 AM thanks, ill try that, anybody else know how you actually use that fan clutch removal tool though? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
