'96 f-150 fuel problems...filling front tank up and running outdavey246a 03-13-2005, 11:01 PM I have recently purchased a 96 f-150 2wd short bed 302 truck. When purchased both tanks read full, well i ran the rear tank out then flipped to the front tank and ran fine, switched off somewhere and got back in to go,wouldnt start with it on front tank, but after switched to the rear tank it would start then i could switch it back to the front pump and run on....I figured maybe a weak pump in front tank....well now about a week later it want do anything with front pump and now its filling the front tank up and running out the gas cap...How can i solve this problem?? Is the whole problem my front puel pump?? Or is it a switch??? How many tanks do i have...PLEASE HELP ASAP...Thanks davey246a 03-13-2005, 11:03 PM I meant how many pumps do it have?? I clearly know i have 2 tanks...Running off the rear tank it fills the front tank up and runs out the cap...i can unscrew the cap and will have to let the pressure off slowly before taking cap completely off. PLEASE HELP ASAP!! FORDTRACMAN 03-14-2005, 08:04 AM Possible recall, check with dealer.FDM-fuel delivery module-front tank. Some say the dealer will put a check valve on externally. Hope you have good luck with the dealer. boys822 03-30-2005, 05:47 PM I was wondering if this problem was ever fixed, as I have the same problem with my 90 Ford F150 davey246a 03-30-2005, 05:53 PM Yes i did get it fixed.......the problem was the pump in the front tank,on my year model(1996) if the front pupm goes out it will pump the return fuel into it and will eventually fill up and run out of the cap. I didnt really think that just by the pump being bad that it would cause this, but sure enough i replaced the pump and all my problems are fixed for now. Hope this helps you out! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
