My first assumption would be the fuel pump. Could it be anything else? Is the pump located inside the fuel tank?
I am a home do it type of person on a limited income, but if it is the pump, should I get a mechanic?

not sure that I have ever heard the fuel pump...... what am I listening for? Can I check this by turning the key to the auxiliary position?

Put the key in the ignition and turn it one step towards the direction where you would usually turn for starting.

To answer your question, yes the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.

I went and turned the key as you stated...... nothing as far as noises.

I turned the key forward as though i were going to start it.
No noise.... no anything.
The fuel tank is completely full...(just filled up yesterday) Would this inhibit me being able to hear it?
