Electrical Problem on my 94 JGCesfd455 03-11-2005, 10:17 PM I had a strange problem come about today after I started my 94 JGC when leaving work. The seat belt chime came on as normal and then when it timed out it stayed on continuous chime and would not stop. I had put on my seatbelt as usual. I then turned off the engine and disconnected my seatbelt. Tried it again without using my seatbelt and it still did it. I finally had to take fuse #8 out which is for the seat belts, radio, doorlocks and a few other things. I had installed a remote starter system a year ago and have had no problem with it with the electrical system. I do not know if it is causing the problem or not. I will be taking it out of circuit tomorrow to see if it causes the problem. It was too cold today and it was late ( dark ) so I did not do it today. I was almost going to unplug the chime unit out to get rid of the noise but the fuse was quick and easy. Has anybody else had this problem? I just do not want to have my battery go dead if it is a short somewhere. Its a weird problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated............ Also check the ground wire from the switch. dksob81 03-12-2005, 08:41 AM If you don't find anything, you could disconnect the switch, it is located under the seat, near center consol, where the seat belt buckle (locking part) gets bolted to the body. esfd455 03-12-2005, 07:35 PM Well got up this morning and found my battery dead..........Troubleshoot the JGC and found the remote starter unit had gone bad and developed a short on the circuitboard. Disconnected the unit and installed a new SEARS SUV BATTERY ($100.00) and this fixed the problem. Now I miss the remote start and unlock fuctions........I guess I will be buying another unit to replace it with. Thanks for all the reponses I received about my problem........Have a great weekend.
