1996 f150 hard start when coldtroy808 03-10-2005, 06:58 PM Can someone please help me? I have a 1996 f150 with a 4.9 straight 6. I am having problems starting it in the morning. I noticed that when i tap the gas pedal 1 or 2 times before i try to start it, it starts right up and for the rest of the day it starts fine. The truck sometimes die out in the middle of driving then i have a hard time starting it back up also. but, if i forget to tap the gas pedal then it seems like the fuel system gets flooded. I've changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor, wires, plugs and coil pack. I even bought a Haynes manual which wasn't very much help to me. Has anyone ever had this problem before? can someone point me in the right direction. Is there a cold start valve? Is there a fuel ignighter? :banghead: :banghead: Aloha Troy :banghead: :banghead: mustangmike351c 03-11-2005, 10:51 PM is the check engine light coming on? may need to replace the tps troy808 03-15-2005, 01:10 PM is the check engine light coming on? may need to replace the tps Thanks for the reply Mustang. but, No check engine light coing on.
