swapping big six with a v-6ClayHillBuzz 03-09-2005, 10:09 PM I have a 1995 F-150 with a 4.9 (300) straight six with 5-speed stick. Am interested in replacing this engine with one of the newer V-6's. Anyone know if this is posiible (or practical) and will the 4.2 V-6 bolt up to the tranny? Ace$nyper 03-09-2005, 10:10 PM wha???? your in the wrong area man. The 4.2 V6 has been nothing but trouble. Stick with what you have. Also, the 4.2 Came out in 96 with OBDll Electronics, yours is OBDl. So, nothing will interface and you would end up with way too much money in it to make this at all feasible. :2cents: M3FordBoy 03-24-2005, 04:38 PM I agree keep the I6 even if it needs rebuilding. The I6 makes alot more torque and will last for ever. rod4bama1966 03-24-2005, 10:11 PM man.. never give up a straight 6 for a v6.. you can't kill a I6 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
