Hey all you Prismers .....I have 2 questions:

1) Is there a way to read check engine codes by jumping pins on the reader plug and count the check engine flashes?

2) I have a 2001 Prism that just turned 62,000 miles, I want to change the timing belt, any body done this job, suggestions?

Thanks for any and all help.

Your in luck?? 2001 Prizms do not have timing belts. They have timing chains. No need to change it. Timing chain will last forever.
About reading the troublr code, the only way is to get a OBD-II scan tool to read the code. No other way. It an Autozone part store is near you,
they will either loan you the loot or they can read the trouble code for you at there store.

I have just saved you a bundle of money. NO timing belr to change.
That is the main reason I purchase a Prizm in 2001. Most other 4 cyclinder engines due have timing belts like Honda, Fords.
Prizm, Toyotas and nissen have timing chains.

Good luck in changging your timing chain. :evillol:
