Good afternoon to all. Any one could tell me the RPM's in a:

Cirrus LX 95 V6 2.5 lt

ie 1500 rpm in Over drive at 45 mph it's normal?
ie 2500 rpm in Over drive at 60 mph it's normal?

Also which it's the average gal/mile in the city or in hwy?

Thanks in advance.

I don't drive your type of car, but that sounds reasonable from experience with other cars. though i don't think you would want to be in overdrive 'on' if you're driving around 45. shifting in and out of OD at those speeds put more tear on your transmission and doesnt help the gas mileage much either.

Well thanks. Maybe I need to know more about cars any way. This Cirrus has an automatic transmission with Overdrive. L3@RP I never run the car in 3 gear. When you mention not better use overdrive at 45 mph. I am making an error? less RPM are better for the motor but not the transmission? ouch!!

Just to clear up, Drivin at 45 in OD does not hurt, it is just that around those speeds, (from the few autos I've driven) the transmission tends to shift back in fort between 3rd and OD. That's what puts the wear and tear on it, especially if you have a carful of people.

Really, just pay attention to your car, because every car is different. If it is shifting down and back up frequently, take it out, if not, it'll be ok. :)
