HI:

I have a 2wd '99 F-150 (ext cab long bed) with a 4.6/ slush box. I hate the slush box. I would like to convert the truck to a manual. Has anyone performed this swap? I know the v-6 models came with a manual trans, so there are pedals/ linkage and a shifter assy and hopefully a usable crossmember, but will the v-6 trans bolt up to the 4.6? Would it be strong enough to handle a 4.6? Would the 5 speed from a 4.6 mustang work? Or should I look aftermarket for a trans?

also- the computer and wiring. Would unplugging the auto trans wreack havoc on the ford computer/ send error codes, etc..?

I'm wondering what my choices are, what parts I can scour from a junkyard and make work without spending thousands of dollars on a trick custom parts.

If anyone has any experience with this I'd appreciate the info!

Thanks,

-BV
