Summer.... I can't waitMR2turbo93 03-07-2005, 01:21 PM I used to like the winter but ever since getting an MR2 I realized that the winter blows. Its only good for building your car but when your short on funds it blows harder. Any way I was wondering what every one thought of the Blitz Nur R exhaust as I am planning on buying it? I also was wondering what most of you are running for exhausts? I have a 93 turbo with a K&N Kit on it and I am planning on getting the KO racing street brawler turbo kit during next winter that is why I chose such a large pipe. ac427cpe 03-07-2005, 01:49 PM i actually don't know much about the mr2 exhaust systems... i've always gone 2.5" and made my own... currently running a single outlet 2.5" ID from the downpipe back to a magnaflow (or somethin like that) on the 1.5 JekylandHyde 03-07-2005, 02:29 PM Winter is great ... who could afford to race all year :D For the price of most exhaust systems, you could pay to have a local shop make you 2 or 3 different exhausts. I went fully custom on Jekyl: $16 X 2 for two mufflers on Summitracing.com $23 X 2 for two polished tips on Summitracing.com $200 for local muffler shop to fab it up and add necessary pipes. $278 total. Nice quiet exhaust that flows. TRD2000 03-07-2005, 03:03 PM so what's hyde got? JekylandHyde 03-07-2005, 03:10 PM Hyde had for the first 2+ years: $280 Tanabe b-pipe $80 MR2 Performance Parts Tip $360 = Total No mufflers though. I have to have mufflers for NHRA SP/RWD. So I added a $100 Borla Muffler and $100 or so for fabrication. $560 = Total MR2turbo93 03-07-2005, 06:51 PM Thats cool..... is it stainless? The only reason that I am willing to pay so much is because I don't trust any of the shops around me. There's only one real tuning shop by me called Visions of Speed. All their cars blow big cloudes of blue and white smoke. No one really trusts them they, just settle on them. Thanks for the help, I was really just wondering if there was and bad thing about this exhaust. I know the Apexi is cheeper but it doesn't make nearly as much down low as the Blitz does. MR2turbo93 03-07-2005, 06:53 PM I'm still looking into making my own though :naughty: attica85 03-07-2005, 08:01 PM I used to like the winter but ever since getting an MR2 I realized that the winter blows. Its only good for building your car but when your short on funds it blows harder. Albany....ouch If you still wanna custom fab an exhaust i would suggest trying a respectable repair shop or a napa or auto supply center of some sort (if you don't have a performance shop). Tell them you want more flow, give them the old setup and and give them the inches of diameter. They should be able to bend, torch, and even weld on the old flanges. If they can't do that :loser:, try a local college or even high school that has an automotive shop and pay em to do it. try to get the teacher if you go to a high school. MR2turbo93 03-07-2005, 11:16 PM Yea , I'd rather do it my self. I can weld but have never done pipes. I've only done sheet metal for body parts. I took a Auto Body course in HS at a local tech school. But I'd rather pay the 600 bills to get a professional one thats all stainless. then to waste money doing it my self. When im done with college ill get certified so I can weld anything. drazhartd 03-11-2005, 01:05 AM Any way I was wondering what every one thought of the Blitz Nur R exhaust as I am planning on buying it? I also was wondering what most of you are running for exhausts? The blitz nur spec is a respectable exhaust for the turbo 2. ~17hp gain. KORacing's exhaust came up with ~24hp. Of course, these numbers vary per pull, but overall the KO outdoes it. Either way, the Nurspec is boomy and wicked cool. On my 91 NA I run a SSAutochrome headers, to a highflow cat and muffler, all 2.5" MR2turbo93 03-16-2005, 12:33 AM Jekyl how much power did you gain on your turbo with the custom exhaust? Draz, where does the KO give you the most hp/tq? Blitz i know is more of a mid range pipe due to the wild bends. Also i want a 3in. pipe so i don't have to buy a second exhaust next winter when i switch to a T3/T4. JekylandHyde 03-16-2005, 06:05 AM I do not have dyno results ... but just when I added the Tanabe b-pipe instead of the OEM pipe, I gained nearly 5 mph in the 1/4 mile :) I was already running an upgraded turbo so it obviously appreciated being opened up. MR2turbo93 03-16-2005, 10:56 AM oh ok thats cool but i guess i wont be abled to tell until i put it on the dyno SHORTYBOY113 03-17-2005, 01:29 AM i have the apexi gt spec. it is pricey but it sounds nice and deep. not ur honda sound. mine came with a 3" down pipe also. with 3 1/2" piping with a 3 1/2" inlet and a 4 1/2' tip. it cost alot but i think that it as worth the money. i felt a real good power gain and that was the only thing that i have on my car. other 2's ask me where they can get theres! MR2turbo93 03-17-2005, 12:31 PM I don't know that just sounds enormus 3in is on the big side for a MR2. JekylandHyde 03-17-2005, 12:34 PM 3" is perfect for the turbo MR2 ... it is too big for a non-turbo MR2. TRD2000 03-17-2005, 02:14 PM ditto. if i have to get something custom made i'm considering 3.5" SHORTYBOY113 03-17-2005, 05:06 PM go for the gt spec. im telling u, u wont regret it. i have pix if u want them MR2turbo93 03-18-2005, 12:58 AM yea throw some pics up if you have them. I dont know the blitz exhaust i hear has a better power curve i still have about a month before i buy anything and i want the best bang for the buck but not to loud and something that doesnt lose power in the mid range cause i'd rather have a better handeling car than a drag car Carcatz 03-18-2005, 07:16 PM i just got the ko racing exaust it is awesome great flanges and sounds great very happy with it no complaints, 3inch to 2inch pipe I got the quieter and its perfect for me took no tim to install! MR2turbo93 03-18-2005, 08:20 PM I've been hearing good things with all of the pipes. I personally like the Blitz peice. The Apexi exhausts have amazing welds as does the Blitz. However the KO Racing pipe looks MIG welded compared to TIG. Also the Apexi pipes are loud! SHORTYBOY113 03-19-2005, 12:17 AM yea they are loud but a good loud! not that honda high pitch non sence. its turbo back not cat. no resinator and a high flow cat. i love my exhaust. eveyone that has a 2 near me wants it. lol MR2turbo93 03-19-2005, 04:53 PM Well The KO racing exhaust hangs too low and the Apexi is way too loud i know the honda sound you speak of but still too loud. The blitz piece hangs kinda low but is not to loud. 96MR2Turbo 03-19-2005, 08:26 PM Mine's a PHOENIX POWER Departure II exhaust - 75mm piping and 115mm tip (nice exhaust note). With BLITZ catless downpipe. Turbo spools faster in higher range. Carcatz 03-20-2005, 11:14 AM I have that pipe, not installed yet about how long did it take to install and did you notice gains? 96MR2Turbo 03-21-2005, 07:45 AM It took the workshop the whole day to fit the pipe. The problem is that they snap 2 bolts that connected the turbo n downpipe. Was told it always happened to most MR2 turbo. Carcatz 03-21-2005, 07:58 AM how many miles on your car? and can you notice a difference? 96MR2Turbo 03-21-2005, 08:11 AM About 100K. There is a bit lag in the low end. But better performance in the mid to high end. Carcatz 03-21-2005, 09:01 AM I think there will always be lag! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
