starter bolt replacement

I have a '99 Pirzm with the 1.8L DOHC engine. The starter is located on the front[radiator] side of the engine. I was able to get the starter out, but in the process, stripped the 14mm lower bolt which fastens the starter to the transmission [enough where it needs to be replaced with a new bolt].

Can these bolts be bought at any autoparts store, or do I have to go to a GM or Toyota dealer?

Thanks in advance,

John

inspect the tranny hole, alum will strip before steel, check with part stores or junkyards for the bolts.

Well Smokey, I got the starter installed.

I spent half the day on my back applying penitrating oil turning the bolt in, backing it out, cleaning the threads [poor man's tap and die]. This was just to insure that the new bolt would thread sufficiantly into the tranny. Installed new with anti-sieze. What a job!!

I guess i can't complain...i got the used starter for $35.00, with a 90-day gaurantee. AutoZone, and other part stores wanted $140.00 w\core
